what is exquisite corpse?
Exquisite corpse is a game played on paper and it is based around the whole idea of chance which is why the surrealists liked playing this game as they had no idea what the end result was going to be. The way this game works is you draw on the top third of the paper, then you would fold it so no one else would see it, then the next person would draw on the second section and so on until all three or four sections are completed, then you would unfold all sections and see the end result which could either look really pretty and well drawn or completely absurd and messy, neither is a bad end result.
My first 3 exquisite corpses
The class and I spent the lesson experimenting and making exquisite corpses, we wanted the drawings to turn out as absurd and bizarre as possible, we wanted to put ourselves in the shoes of a surrealist photographer.
Exquisite Corpses on Andigraf on the iPod.
In today's lesson, Ben and I paired up and we got an iPod touch and we went onto the app called Andigraf, We then decided who was going to go first and who was going to go second, we decided Ben would go first and I would go second, He took 10 steps and while I looked away he took a photo, we did this 4 times and then the 4 photos merged together creating different exquisite corpses. I didn't know what Ben was taking photographs of and ben didn't know what I was taking photos of and that was what made the end result even better as there was a sense of mystery behind it all.
